RAMZY REVIEWS: "Lights Out"

lights out, lights out movie, lights out full movie, lights out full trailer, lights out 2016

When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn't real when the lights went out...and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged. But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger...once the lights go out.

Probably the scariest scene in the movie for me.
Alright, first things first, if you didn't know that this was actually a short-film originally, then do yourself a favor and check it out! It's one of my favorite shorts out there, and I'm so glad they actually hired the director of it to do the full movie! Yay for opportunities!

On to the movie itself! I actually think it was quite a lot of fun! Typical pessimistic me kinda went in skeptical if they could handle turning the short into a full-length movie, and greatly enough, they did! One a scale of scariness, this is pretty close--if not--equal to "The Conjuring". And in terms of overall movie quality, really. Because it was pretty decent. None of the typical problems that constantly plague B-grade horror flicks like stereotypical, caricature characters doing the stupidest things. The characters in this movie are actually quite likeable and are far from being annoying! The movie also gets really thrilling at times that quite often pay off to some pretty entertaining moments. But, one complaint I probably have is how too on-the-nose the metaphor it has with regards to mental illness. And although the characters were pretty okay overall, it could've been written just a tad better in some scenes, though.

This one also gave me quite the spook!
Overall, it really was a lot of fun! I'd imagine even more with a lot of friends! A definite recommendation for me, if you're into horror flicks and are looking for a fun movie to see.
