A year after rescuing Nemo, Dory finds herself living happily in the reef with Marlin and Nemo. But Dory suddenly remembers a long lost memory - that she has a family out there. She recruits Marlin and Nemo for a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute - a rehabilitation center and aquarium - and where Dory is from. In the effort to find her mom and dad, Dory enlists the help of three intriguing MLI residents: Hank, a stubborn octopus who frequently gives employees the slip; Bailey, a beluga whale who is convinced his biological sonar skills are on the fritz; and Destiny, a nearsighted whale shark.

As a direct but pretty long-due sequel to the much beloved Pixar classic. It would seem that "Finding Dory" would have some pretty big fins to fill in (that totally doesn't work at all, sorry). The first time I heard of this movie, the first honest thought to come to my head was "Do we really need a sequel for that?". And just to let you know right off the bat. After getting to watch it myself and pondering upon that thought...that no, we really didn't need a sequel. BUT. That being said. This is still quite a much welcomed installment, as the movie is actually quite good! In fact, I would say that it is pretty much on par, if not, only a bit behind Pixar's best such as "Up", "Wall-E", the more recent "Inside Out", and many others. While the narrative scope for the movie certainly wouldn't be considered as vast or grand as its predecessor, it really is genuinely pleasing to watch, as I found myself simply mesmerized, immersed and most importantly, having tons of fun during its 1hr45min runtime. The CGI is almost unsurprisingly top-notch and stunning, as is the norm for Pixar's movies. The writing in both the characters and the dialog was definitely excellent and added so much to its entertainment-factor as a whole.

"Finding Dory" is just highly-entertaining and hilarious. The overall plot was, again, lacking in some aspects and felt just the slightest bit of narrow, and kinda lacked the usual emotional punch we usually get from a Pixar film...but it most certainly does well enough to entertain and capture all audiences, both young and old. A definite must-see if you are a fan of the "Finding Nemo", Pixar's movies, or just looking for some light-hearted and adorable fun to bring friends or kids along!

Personal rating: 8.5/10
